An anonymous donor is offering a $150 cash prize for the winning entry in a contest to re-write the well-known carol “The Holly and the Ivy“. Deadline is 1st December, the entry to be delivered to any of the four Directors of the Society.

Criteria? It must rhyme to the tune and rhythm of the original carol, it must be singable, it must refer to some of the values and purposes of the Society, it must contain two new verses and a repeated chorus. The more musical, more memorable, and more singable entry will succeed.

The contest is open to everyone, including Directors, and persons without previous experience of Tree Keepers. If a Director has an entry they will be recused from the judging. The remaining Directors may coopt a number of additional judges, as needed.

The competing entries will be sung by the competing poets/musicians to the jury sometime soon after 1 December.

Tree Keepers Society Directors: Bob Anderson, Darlene Gering, Michele Joel, Dianne Kilback, Erica Mulder
